Summary

The aim of the performed research and this paper was to check the influence of the bacterial preparation Lactosil, the bacterial-enzymatic preparations Lactosil Plus and Lactacel L (Polsil-Biopreparations – Płock) and chemical supplements Amasil 99, Luprosil and Amasil Combi (BASF) containing formie acid, propionic acid, as well as mixtures of these acids on silage quality and their aerobic stability.
The research assumptions involved the determination of the influence of the applied diversifying factors on changes in the chemical  composition and counts of lactic acid bacteria, enterobacteria, Clostridium, yeasts and mould fungi in silages prepared from grass, mixture of grasses and legum.es, monocultural  maize and legumes at the moment of opening of the silo and after seven days of aeration. In addition, the influence of the applied preparations on silage aerobic stability was estimated by assessing temperature changes selected chemical parameters and alternations in numbers of yeasts and moulds during the test.
The applied biological preparations had a similar influence on microbiological status and the chemical composition of silages ensiled in microsilos for 90 days. They increased lactic bacteria populations in all silages, limited the growth of lactic pseudofermentation bacteria of the Enterobacteriaceae family and eliminated the growth of butyric acid bacteria of Clostridium. The influence of chemical supplements on numbers of yeast and mould cells varied. Silages with chemical supplements contained higher concentrations of lactic and acetic acid. They did not reduce protein losses but limited the formation  of N-NH3 in all silages. The effectiveness of individual preparations on oxygen stability of all silage was difficult to establish. However, the analysis of selected parameters made it possible to conclude that the B3 preparation (Lactacel L) exerted the strongest influence. Maize silages ensiled with biological preparations were strongly affected by mould fungi of Fusarium genus during oxygen exposition and, simultaneously, they were strongly contaminated by DON mycotoxin.
Silages treated with chemical preservatives contained lower numbers of lactic acid bacteria in comparison to silages treated with biological additives but higher than the control ones. Chemical additives  significantly  reduced  the development of enterobacteria and their activity was more effective in comparison to biological supplements (P < 0.01). In silage with chemical preservatives no bacteria from the Clostridium genus were found in silages treated with chemical preparations. In addition, silages treated with chemical additives contained significantly lower numbers of yeast and mould cells in comparison to the control silages and those containing biological supplements (P < 0.01).
Fermentation inhibitors increased lactic acid concentrations in silages; however, it was not as intensive as in silages with biological stimulators. Silages with chemi cal supplements contained the smallest amounts ofbutyric acid, ammonia (P < 0.01) and the highest level of WSC (P < 0.01) and protein.
After opening laboratory  microsilos  and aeration  of  the experimental  silages, a significant influence of all preservatives on the increase of aerobic stability was observed as evidenced by the longest heating immunity  time, lowest pH, as well as a strong growth decline of yeast and mould cells (P < 0.01). Maize silages made from plant material obtained from maize monocultures treated with chemical supplements displayed the weakest levels of Fusarium palsy and contained the lowest amounts of DON mycotoxin.
